Baltimore Has 10 Homicide-Free Days for First Time Since 2013

Baltimore Has 10 Homicide-Free Days for First Time Since 2013 CNN reported that the city has not seen a homicide in a little over a week, making it the first time since Oct. 1 to Oct. 10 in 2013. In 2016, the FBI reported there were 51.4 homicides per 100,000 residents. Last year, for every 620,000 residents, there were 343 homicides, according to the Baltimore Police Department. That means 2017 marked the highest number of homicides in Baltimore since 1993. The decrease in violence can be pointed to the Baltimore Ceasefire group, which aims to reduce homicides by leading grassroots efforts around the city. Erricka Bridgeford, community activist to CNN
