More Baby Boomers Are Smoking Pot, Study Says Researchers recently reported in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence that 9% of people between the ages of 50-64 have used marijuana in the past year. That number is double the amount of use for the same age group in 2006. These pot-smoking baby boomers are also more likely to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol and abuse drugs, according to researchers. Dr. Benjamin Han, NYU, via NBC News Researchers also found that the marijuana users who were surveyed perceived the plant as harmless, which is not the case.
